Alex Cave

Having trained in animation at the Royal College of Art, London and trained in and taught illustration at Brighton University, Alex Cave's work is both technically adept as well as quirky and witty.

He takes the themes of landscape and figure and using what he refers to as 'combinatronics art' carefully constructs people from their surroundings.

This mathematical approach, centering around the study of finite and countable discrete sets, allows him new ways of responding and configuring object arrangements in his work.

In 2010 Alex was awarded Artist in Residence at the Andrew James Gallery in Shanghai, China.

His work is held in private and public collections including those of MTV and the French TV channel Canal +.
